The South Goa Sessions Court on Friday sentenced a native of Jharkhand to life imprisonment for killing his wife in the 2021 murder reported at Sao Jose de Areal.
Sessions Judge Sherin Paul has further directed the convict Gulshan Tirkey to pay a fine of Rs 1 lakh or in default to undergo further imprisonment.
Public Prosecutor Sanjay Samant informed that the accused husband had stabbed his wife to death on November 4, 2021 at a stone crusher site at Sao Jose de Areal. He said the accused and the deceased were working as labourers at the stone crusher site.
“The duo were staying in a make shift accommodation at the site, where the husband stabbed wife to death with a knife,” he added.
The public prosecutor had examined a total of 15 witnesses in support of his case, including the investigation officer.
