IMD forecasts light to moderate rainfall across Goa till May 22

Parts of Goa have recorded isolated rainfall and thunderstorms over the past two days, with moderate showers in Quepem and Dharbandora.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD-Goa) data, Quepem registered 35.0 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours while Dharbandora recorded 33.1 mm. Despite the showers, Goa continues to experience heat with maximum temperatures reaching 35 °C on Friday which has been 1.1 °C above the seasonal average. Rainfall on Friday stood at an average 5.2 mm.
The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall across Goa till May 22. Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds ranging from 30 to 40 kmph are likely to occur at isolated locations in the state till May 20. However, the prevailing heat is expected to continue, with daytime temperatures hovering between 34 °C and 35 °C. Humidity levels are also expected to remain high at around 85 percent.
The IMD reported favourable conditions for the monsoon’s further advancement over parts of the southern Arabian Sea, Maldives, Comorin region and central Bay of Bengal in the coming days. The onset of the southwest monsoon in Goa is scheduled on June 5.
