Well, Revanth Reddy has become the talking point within Congress circles and outside after he has been credited for singlehandedly leading the Congress to victory in the Telangana Assembly polls. After the Congress High Command rewarded Revanth Reddy with the CM’s seat for his hard work, questions did the rounds on social media whether the party can zero in on a local Revanth to bring around a change in the party’s fortunes in Goa in 2027. Sawant, Vijai cynosure of all eyes at Old Goa feast lunch
Goemkars in Goa and outside saw the bonhomie amongst the ruling and Opposition MLAs as they joined for lunch on the lawns of the sprawling Old Goa complex on the occasion of Goencho Saib’s feast. The cynosure of all eyes, however, was Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant and Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai seated together at the luncheon table. It could not be ascertained whether the duo were found seated together by chance or whether the CM invited the Goa Forward chief to take the seat next to him. Traditional fishermen Pele who was seen behind the CM-Vijai duo may perhaps shed more light on the bonhomie, if any, between the arch political rivals.

Curtorim Independent MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco may realise that perhaps for the first time in his stint as MLA, opponents seemed raring to take on him on local issues. None other the Independent MLA realised the bitter truth when he descended at Sonsodo earlier this week. The people not only gave vent to their sentiments, but opponents were raring to take on him. Even political observers have been trying to figure out the nature and level of opposition against the Curtorim MLA, whether it is due to the incumbency factor or simply after the four-time MLA lent support to the saffron brigade after the 2022 polls. Wait and watch.
Tide against MMC chief, as calls for ouster grow louder
Garbage and leachate have come back to haunt Margao civic chief, Damubab Shirodkar. Days after Benaulim AAP MLA Venzybab Viegas called for the replacement of the Margao Chairperson for dumping waste in Benaulim village, a similar demand echoed in the city after leachate flowed down from Sonsodo earlier this week. That a ruling BJP councillor Camilobab Barretto demanded that Damubab should step down from office if he cannot handle the garbage issue has left many a political observer baffled, more so after Congress-turned-BJP Margao MLA Diggu had just a little over a year ago got the government amend the Municipalities Act to change the mode of election for a civic chairpersons. Any takers.
Fisherman Pele in forefront to protect interests of Benaulikars
Benaulim-based fisherman Pele leads the fight to protect the interest of traditional fishermen as well as locals against projects thrust upon the people by the government. He took the platform of the feast of Goencho Saib at Old Goa to get his close friend Vijaibab Sardesai take up the issue of fisherman’s demand for space at the defunct Benaulim prawn hatchery with CM Pramodbab Sawant. And, he was back in the forefront with the tourism stakeholders to oppose Tourism department’s pay-parking proposal at the iconic Colva beach. Mainstream Benaulim politicos may certainly sit and watch what Pele is up to. Wait and watch.
