Workers pin hopes on visit of top BJP leaders for Kamat’s elevation

Guess the BJP leaders expected to come down to Goa early next week, and what’s their mission in the State, is a question doing the rounds in political circles during the weekend. Well, speculation is rife that a couple of BJP leaders are scheduled to arrive in the State early next week. Whether the leaders are descending in Goa in view of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls or otherwise remain unclear. Party workers from Margao, however, seemed hoping against hope that the BJP leaders ring in good news for Congress-turned-BJP MLA Diggu. Any takers?

Winds of change? Some Congmen upbeat over Tagore’s statement

What’s Congress Goa desk in-charge, Manickam Tagore’s message to the Goa Congress leaders when he reportedly told the media that party leaders need to put in more work in order to take on the Saffron brigade? Well, Tagore has left Goa after his two-day visit to the State, wherein he had meetings with party leaders. But, his statement has set off a debate of sorts within the Congress and outside. Those demanding a change in leadership seemed upbeat over Tagore’s statement, more so when Goa desk in-charge has disclosed plans to submit a report to the party High Command. Wait and watch.

Girish takes long leave from teaching for LS poll campaign

Has former Goa Congress president Girishbab Chodankar, who works as a lecturer in a higher secondary school, gone on long leave? Well, political opponents have been trying to figure out why Girishbab has proceeded on leave and whether the ex-GPCC chief has done so in view of the ensuing Lok Sabha elections scheduled early next year. Girishbab, who had unsuccessfully contested the North Goa Lok Sabha polls in 2019, has set his eyes on the South Goa seat. Sources say Girishbab has started interacting with people across South Goa ahead of the poll and his decision to go on leave is seen as a calculated move to hit the campaign trail with full gusto. Cong leaders want balancing act on candidate choice for LS polls

How would the Congress leadership go about in the event the party departs from the time-tested norm of fielding a minority candidate from South Goa seat? Well, if sources are to be believed, certain party leaders are believed to have come with an idea to do a balancing act, to field a candidate from the minority candidate in North Goa. It is even learnt that certain leaders were believed to have approached a prominent party leader from the minority community, with a proposal to contest the LS polls from the North Goa LS constituency. What has Aam Aadmi Party Benaulim MLA Venzybab Viegas got to say over fears raised by the aam admi, whether Colvenkars in particular and Goemkars in general now need to pay for parking just to take a stroll or enjoy leisure at the world famous Colva beach?
