Cong holds its cards as INDIA partners set to present choices

Did the meeting of opposition parties attended by Congress Goa observer Manikrao Thakare discuss the names of Congress candidates for both the North and South Goa Lok Sabha seats? Sources said NCP Chief Josebab Philip D’Souza reportedly tried to open a discussion on the nature of candidates the Congress should field for the two seats. Thakare, however, is believed to have insisted that the choice of candidates can be conveyed at an individual level, cutting short the discussions on the candidates. Wait and watch whether the leadership of Aam Admi Party, NCP, Goa Forward, Shiv Sena and others have conveyed the party’s choice of candidates for the two Lok Sabha seats.

Goa Forward sending secy for oppn meet raises eyebrows

How come Goa Forward General Secretary Durgadasbab Kamat made it to the meeting of opposition parties to chalk out the strategy for the Lok Sabha polls when the meeting was attended by presidents of other parties? Well, sources said Vijaibab was heading to the national capital to attend a wedding reception when he received a call from GPCC Chief Amitbab Patkar. Sources said Vijaibab said he had no issue attending the meeting provided that Amitbab sent a message about the meeting. It was only after Amitbab sent the message that Vijaibab told party leader Durgadasbab Kamat to attend the meeting. Any questions?

Will Goa Forward back Sardinha as oppn consensus candidate?

Goa Forward party’s presence at the meeting of opposition parties called to chalk out a joint strategy to take on the BJP in the coming Lok Sabha polls has thrown up a question or two. Reason: Goa Forward Chief Vijaibab Sardesai is on record asserting he and his party would not back sitting Congress MP Francisbab Sardinha for the South Goa seat. That brings to the fore the moot question: How the regional party would go about the coming polls in the event Sardinhabab emerges as the Congress Lok Sabha candidate for South Goa? Wait and watch.

Aleixo's hard shift for BJP in Nuvem impresses leadership

Cong-turned-BJP MLA and Saxtti's lone minister Aleixobab Sequeira seemed to be leaving no stone unturned to garner a few additional votes for the BJP in the minority-dominated Nuvem constituency. When CM Pramodbab Sawant descended at Nuvem for a programme earlier this week, he took the opportunity to take Chief Minister to the people who matter in the political scheme of things. Pramodbab must be pleased with the way Aleixobab is working for the saffron brigade. That Saxtti's lone Minister insisted his constituents will benefit if Nuvem gives a lead to the BJP in the Lok Sabha polls, indicates that the Minister is working on a plan in Nuvem.

Moti Dongor rehabilitation catches BJP on wrong foot

Has the BJP cadre from Margao anything to say about the speed with which the government is going about rehabilitating slum dwellers atop the migrant-inhabited Moti Dongor? Well, consider this. Before he returned to the saffron fold, the BJP cadre had lost no time to term the seven-time MLA Digubab Kamat as the Badshah of the migrants. He was charged by the city BJP leadership of patronising the slum dwellers with an eye on the migrant vote bank. However, now there is an eerie silence amongst the BJP rank and file over the Moti Dongor rehabilitation. Any questions?

Delay in the saffron camp to zero in on the candidate for the South Goa Lok Sabha seat has thrown up a host of questions? One, what could be the reason behind the delay when CM Pramodbab Sawant and senior party leaders have not stopped saying that people would vote for the Lotus more than the candidate? That’s not all. The delay in unveiling the candidate has raised many an eyebrow, more so when party leaders have been quick to write off the Congress in South Goa and not to…
