The Congress Screening Committee members have come and returned back to Delhi. More than the choice of candidate, however, certain Congress leaders are believed to have made a plea to the panel to take steps to keep the interest of the party above other interests while zeroing down on a candidate. For, some of the leaders are believed to have expressed fears that the party could suffer irreparable damage if a wrong candidate is foisted by the High Command for the South Goa seat. It was a week when Goa Forward chief Vijaibab and close aide Durgadasbab Kamat were on the job to find out the people in the saffron brigade and the opposition responsible behind the speculations on his imminent entry into the BJP government. The duo suspect that opponents worked overtime during the weekend to spread the news about Vijaibab’s induction in the government. Vijaibab has so far scotched all reports as mere speculation and rumours. Varca strongman Bab Churchill is believed to have called up a senior Congress leader in Delhi just to find out how come the Congress have suddenly began to realize that the EVMs are open for manipulation. With voices emanating across the country for scrapping of EVMs and return of time tested ballot paper, Churchillbab says his stand on the EVMs finally is finally vindicated. He does not stop reminding the media how his doubts on EVMs in the 2012 Assembly election were dismissed as allegations coming from an uneducated politician. Churchillbab seemed happy that even Oxford educated Congress leaders are now casting doubts on the EVMs now.

Tongues were left wagging on Thursday night whether Cong-turned-BJP Margao MLA Diggu will finally make it to the Pramodbab Sawant Cabinet. Reason: Police and other vehicles were spotted outside Diggu’s bungalow at Aquem on Thursday evening, raising speculations on his induction. Realization later dawned that Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant along with BJP leaders had reportedly dropped in at Diggu’s bungalow for dinner after inspection of the PM’s Viksit rally arrangements in the city.
