Damubab Naik and the saffron brigade seemed playing a different ball game in Fatorda’s fertile political plains. Even the rival Goa Forward camp may be taken aback over the BJP’s move to field as many as half-a-dozen Catholic candidates in the 11 Margao municipal wards falling under Fatorda area. It’s still unclear whether the BJP is trying to shed its image as anti-minority, or simply that the party has suddenly found potential in the minority candidates. In 2015, arch rival Vijaibab Sardesai had fielded as many as nine Catholic candidates, with all the candidates emerging victorious? Interesting, isn’t it?
