Honour of hoisting Tricolour at Margao goes to PWD Minister

The privilege of hoisting the National Tricolour at the Liberation Day parade at the south district headquarters, Margao has again gone to a minister hailing from outside Saxttidom. Reason:  Saxtti has no representation in the Pramodbab Sawant dispensation. And, Saxtti’s political heavyweights, Diggu and Alexiobab Sequeira, who had quit the Congress to embrace the BJP exactly three months ago, are still waiting for the day when the saffron brigade will reward them for defection, including ministerial berths. By the way,  the honour of hoisting the Tricolour at Margao will go to PWD Minister Nileshbab Cabral at the ensuing Liberation day function on December 19.

These MLAs called for relaxation

of sound norms at midnight Mass

Guess the MLAs who were quick to take up cudgels for the stakeholders hit by the sound pollution order. Well, Goa Forward Chief Vijaibab Sardesai was quick to fire shots at bete noire, CM Pramod Sawant in his characteristic fashion, making a case to protect the tradition and cultural ethos.

Former Minister Churchillbab Alemao too demanded relaxation on sound to protect Tiatr and Khells.  The latest Saxtti politician to join the bandwagon and demand relaxation to the use of sound at midnight Masses is AAP Benaulim MLA Venzybab Viegas.

Mention in RS confirms fears

on Sal river and Salpem lake

TMC Rajya Sabha MP Luizinhbab Faleiro was at his usual best in the Rajya Sabha “ this time raising the issues plaguing river Sal and Salpem lake. Considered Saxtti’s lifeline, river Sal and the once picturesque Salpem lake has been the cynosure of all eyes over pollution. The reply tabled in the Rajya Sabha has only re-confirmed the worst fears on the status of river Sal. During his stint as MLA, Luizinhbab had been vocal in demanding a stop to the discharge of raw sewage into Salpem lake in Navelim constituency. And, he had minced no words in pointing accusing fingers at Margao for the pollution. You know why.

Does Cabral return calls over

complaints on environment?

Does Minister Nileshbab Cabral really make it a point to return back calls he receives on his cell phone? Social activist Judithbai Almeida seemed to have a grievance with Cabral, but for a different reason. She has been left to wonder why Cabral, who also holds the Environment portfolio, does not reply nor returns her calls, if at all the Minister has made it a point to return calls made by citizens. Judithbai wonders whether the Minister does not have her number or is it simply that he does not receive or returns her calls when she has a complaint or two to lodge on environment and ecology. Any takers?

It's celebration time for some

over developments in Raia

The ouster of Raia Sarpanch Judas Quadros from office has thrown up a question or two in the village and outside. One, whether the ousted Sarpanch was part of the group that was in any manner aligned to the Curtorim MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco? Or, whether the group, which succeeded in voting out the Sarpanch from office is opposed to the Independent MLA. Even as the opposition group is bracing up to elect a new Sarpanch,  BJP ST leader Anthonybab Barbosa and his camp seemed to have gone into a celebration mode over developments unfolding in Raia. Wait and watch.

As anxiety was writ large on the stakeholders on what lies in store during the ensuing Christmas festivities vis-Ã -vis use of sound, ruling politicians who have come under the cynosure of all eyes in Saxttidom and outside are heavyweights Congress-turned-BJP MLAs Diggu and Aleixobab Sequeira. With the High Court monitoring the sound pollution norms, many a stakeholder, right from event management to dance organisers, are believed to have turned to the Diggu-Aleixo duo to…
