The Aam Aadmi Party made a high-profile entry into Goa in 2017, while Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) made its much-publicised foray into the State’s political landscape in 2022. Now, if sources are to be believed, the Clock symbol of the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) could find a place on the ballot paper in 2027. NCP leaders from Maharashtra are believed to have reached out to political leaders in Goa as part of efforts to explore contesting the upcoming polls. For now, it’s a case of wait and watch.
Damu’s social engineering drive gathers momentum in Fatorda
BJP State president Damubab Naik appears to be tying up all loose ends as he goes about his social engineering exercise in his home turf of Fatorda ahead of the 2027 Assembly election. First, Damubab chartered a train in August to ferry pilgrims to Vailankanni in Tamil Nadu for the Madi and novenas of Our Lady of Vailankanni. In between, he was seen attending a programme organised by the Scheduled Caste community in his home constituency. Over the weekend, Damubab was seen inspecting the Muslim Kabrastan at Pajifond, falling under Fatorda, accompanied by Haj Committee chief Urfanbai Mulla.
