Congress chief Amitbab Patkar’s statement that the Congress-Goa Forward Party’s alliance is still intact assumes significance on two counts: one, the present Congress leadership believes that the main opposition party should take all anti-BJP forces together against the saffron brigade. Secondly, and more importantly, political observers say Amitbab has sent a message loud and clear to certain leaders within the Congress and outside, who had in the past tried to put spokes in the alliance with the Goa Forward Party that the new Congress leadership believes in taking everyone along against the BJP.
