Tourism Department’s controversial pay parking project at world famous Colva beach has drawn the ire of the ruling and opposition alike. Congress, however, seemed to have maintained stoic silence. Be it the AAP Benaulim MLA Venzybab, former MLA Mickkybab, Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai and Warrenbab Alemao, they all expressed their reservations against the parking project. Even Environment Minister Aleixobab Sequeira has favoured exemption of Goan vehicles from the parking fees. What’s Congress take on the issue? Or, is it that the party has stayed away from Colva so as not to antagonise INDIA Alliance partner AAP representing Benaulim constituency. It’s a sheer coincidence that former Congress chief Girishbab Chodankar questioned Colva pay parking project during the weekend. Any questions?
After Lokotsav, Tawadkar plans Shram Dham scheme across Goa
What’s next for Goa Assembly Speaker Rameshbab Tawadkar? Well, after the roaring success of the annual Lokotsav festival in home constituency Canacona, Tawadkar may be now gearing up to take forward the Shram Dham housing scheme for the poor and the downtrodden. Come 2024, Tawadkar has proposed to build around 200 free houses under the scheme not only in Canacona, but across Goa. A pan-Goa movement for the downtrodden and the poor is certainly expected to attract attention from pan-Goa leaders from the BJP and outside over Tawadkar’s initiative. Wait and watch.
Churchill questions Chidambaram as Cong cries foul over EVMs
Varca strongman Bab Churchill seemed not forgotten how senior Congress leader and former Home Minister P Chidambaram mocked at him when he first raised the bogey of EVM manipulations in the 2012 Assembly election. As Congress senior leaders in Delhi and outside are sulking over the party’s rout in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh in the recently held Assembly election, with many raising doubts over the EVMs, Churchillbab insists whether Oxford-educated Chidambaram has anything to say with some voices in the Congress camp crying foul over the EVM functioning. Any questions?
With 100% success rate in LS polls, supporters back Sardinha
As the race for the Congress ticket for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls expected to intensify in the coming days, supporters of South Goa Congress MP Francisbab Sardinha say that the sitting MP has never lost a Lok Sabha election in his political career. In fact, supporters batting for Sardinhbab’s re-nomination for the Lok Sabha ticket reminds that the sitting MP had contested as many as four LS polls in his political career and had a 100 per cent success rate. That’s not all. Supporters also tend to remind that when the ticket was snatched from Sardinhbab in the 2014 polls, the Congress had miserably lost the seat. Is it a gentle reminder or a caution? Wait and watch.
Congress struggling to find right candidate to head Margao block
When GPCC chief Amitbab Patkar along with party leaders and workers descended in Margao to burn effigies of the eight Congress turncoats to mark the first anniversary of the September 14, 2022 defection, he announced that Margao would soon get a block president and a party office. Three months down the line, the Congress is yet to constitute the Margao block committee. No doubt, party leadership did rope in former MMC chairperson Saviobab Coutinho to strengthen the party in Margao, but the hunt seemed unending to zero in the right candidate in Diggu’s fiefdom to head the block. Any questions?
