Hopes pinned on Aleixo to get pay parking, land acquisition scrapped

It was a week when Environment Minister Aleixobab Sequeira showered praises on Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant. Days after he found a Cabinet berth after a long wait, Aleixobab went to the town to term Pramodbab a “proactive” Chief Minister.  Fishermen and residents of Colva will certainly look forward to Aleixobab to use his good offices with the Chief Minister to scrap the controversial pay parking project. His constituents agitating against the land acquisition for the new Borim bridge too pin their hopes on the five-time MLA to persuade the CM to save their khazans. Any questions?

Some ministers eye portfolios held by Cabinet colleagues

As Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant holds the prized PWD portfolio, with questions raised whether the CM would go for a Cabinet reshuffle before the 2024 LS polls, certain Ministers seemed to have eyed on portfolios held by their Cabinet colleagues. A case in point, sources said, is the Revenue portfolio held by Babush Monserrate. The Panchayat portfolio presided over by Mauvinbab Godinho is another case in point. Well, if sources are to be believed, a Minister is believed to have made a strong move to get the Revenue portfolio. But, the bigger question remains unanswered “ will Babush let go the Revenue portfolio. Wait and watch.

Girish’s ‘undeclared’ campaign raises eyebrows in Cong camp

Has ex-Congress State president Girishbab Chodankar got the green signal from the Party High Command to kick-start his campaign for the South Goa Lok Sabha seat? Girishbab’s presence in South Goa seemed to have raised eyebrows in Congress circles, more so amongst close aides and well-wishers of Congress contenders for the South Goa ticket, including sitting MP Francisbab Sardinha, bureaucrat-turned-politician Elvisbab Gomes and Capt Viriatbab Fernandes. Supporters of these three party contenders do not envy Girishbab’s undeclared campaign in South Goa, but they have a question or two “ what if Sardinhbab, Elvisbab and Viriatbab too launch their campaigns in support of their candidature? Indeed time for introspection.

Damu listed as probable candidate for South Goa LS seat, party chief?

Where’s former two-time BJP Fatorda MLA? Has the former MLA any plan to play big in the party in the coming days? Well, with the party bracing up to shortlist candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha election, sources in the party say Damubab’s name figures in the list of probable candidates. What if Damubab’s candidature does not find favour with the party leadership. Political observers say Damubab’s name is also doing the rounds in party circles as a probable candidate for the post of BJP State president as and when the party leadership goes for a change. Any takers?
