There’s churn in the Cong? Questions unanswered

How come speculations were rife in political circles over the possibility of Congress MLAs defecting to the ruling party? Opposition leader Yuribab Alemao and Quepem MLA Altonbab D’Costa were quick to deny the allegations. Questions, however, still remains unanswered, against the backdrop of reports over a change in the Congress leadership, more so when the Yuri-Altone duo has been working closely with GPCC chief Amitbab Patkar. The duo also seemed not in favour of disturbing the time-tested norm of fielding a minority candidate for the South Goa LS seat in 2024. Against this backdrop, wait and watch whether the party leadership would go for a change or maintain a status quo.

Speculations that Cong MLAs may defect echo in BJP camp

Speculations that Congress MLAs may defect to the ruling BJP is also believed to have had an echo in the saffron brigade as well. A senior Minister, who had in the past opposed the entry of the eight Congress turncoats, is believed to have questioned the need for another round of defections, when the party is comfortably placed in the Assembly. Sounds rationale, isn’t it, but political observers say another round of defection may come as a shot in the arm for the powers that be in the game of one-upmanship within the saffron brigade.

Will Kamat’s cabinet induction be considered before Christmas?

It was a week when the much awaited induction of Congress-turned-BJP Margao MLA Diggu in the Pramodbab Sawant Cabinet after December 3 failed to take place. Diggu’s workers were bubbling with confidence that Baba would get a Cabinet berth and the prized PWD portfolio. It is a sheer coincidence that it would be 15-long months next week that Diggu along with seven other Congress MLAs had quit the party to embrace the saffron brigade on September 14 last year. Wait and watch whether the Santa Claus would ring in good news for Diggu and his supporters ahead of Christmas.

Aleixo to unfurl National flag on Goa Liberation Day in Margao

Saxtti lone Minister Aleixobab Sequeira will do the honours of unfurling the National Tri-Colour on Goa Liberation Day on December 19. The name of the newly inducted Minister in the Pramodbab Sawant Cabinet has been cleared by the Protocol, sources in the district Collectorate informed. In the absence of a Minister in the BJP government from Saxtti, former PWD Minister, representing Curchorem, Nileshbab Cabral had enjoyed the privilege of taking the salute on State and National Days at the South district Collectorate.

What’s Churchill’s take on charges of recent manipulations of EVMs

What has Varca strongman Bab Churchill to say on the manipulations of EVMs in the recently held Assembly elections, a charge levelled by the Opposition parties? Well, do not be surprised if the former PWD Minister recalls how politicians mocked at him when he raised the bogey of EVM manipulations in the 2012 Assembly polls, which had routed the Alemao family in the Assembly. In fact, every time eyebrows are raised over the EVMs, Churchillbab does not stop saying that no one had taken him seriously whey he had first raised questions over the EVMs. Any questions?
