Luizinho wriggles out of TMC’s prospects

Pose a question or two to Trinamool Congress MP Luizinhbab Faleiro on TMC’s prospects in forming a government in Goa and the veteran says it would be great if the party bags a couple of seats. For, Luizinhbab recalls that the Congress had struggled for years before coming to power in Goa in 1980. He does not stop telling that the BJP had to wait till 2000 to form the government. And, he makes a mention of the Aam Aadmi Party which has been slogging on the ground to make a foothold in Goa for a decade now. Any questions?

All eyes on Michael and Congress CM face

Congress leader Michaelbab Lobo’s categorical statement that the Congress would be in a position to form the government by 5 pm on March 10 should come as a welcome news for Congressmen. The moot question, however, remains unanswered “ who will be the Congress candidate for the post of Chief Minister. Will Michaelbab stake claim for the CM’s position by managing the required number in the event the party falls short of a simple majority? Interesting, isn’t it?

Acid test for Digambar over leadership

Opposition leader Diggu has once reiterated his stand that destiny would decide whether he would return back to the CM’s chair once again. Diggu’s stand assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of reports that he may face a challenge of sorts both within the Congress and outside to his leadership. The Opposition leader is indeed facing an acid test to his leadership in the event the Congress falls short of the numbers to form the government. Wait and watch.

Advantage Inds, smaller party candidates?

The going may be tough this time for the MLAs elect in the event they dare switch parties taking advantage of the anti-defection loopholes. What about the independents and candidates getting elected on the banner of smaller parties? Can anyone stop them from supporting any party or group to form the government of their choice, more so when the main stream political parties and their national leaders had left no stone unturned to defeat them in their fiefdom. Can they be equated with the defectors? Indeed a food for thought.

Questions unanswered over AAP’s support

How will the Aam Aadmi Party go about in the event the party pockets a couple of seats in the Assembly election? Will the party MLAs stay neutral or will they support the Congress to form the government. Still and more important questions is whether the party will extend issue-based support to any government or prefer to join the government to lend stability to the dispensation. Indeed many a question remains unanswered as the countdown has begun for the counting on March 10.
