The last time the saffron brigade had nominated aMuslim candidate in Navelim was over two decades ago when party minority faceSheikh Jina was pitted against Congress veteran Luizinho Faleiro. Around 20years down the line, Urfan Mulla is now lobbying hard for the party nominationin Navelim. With close to 6,000 Muslim voters, Urfan, who heads a minorityeducational institution, appears set to take on the Congress and TMC if hiscandidature finds favour with party leaders Sadanand Tanavade, Satish Dhond andCM Pramod Sawant.
