1.5k precaution doses given on day 1 in Goa

PANAJI
The Directorate of Health Services on Monday administered 1,513 precautionary doses of Covid vaccine as part of the nationwide drive to issue booster doses to healthcare and frontline workers and persons aged above 60 years with comorbidities.

To date, 11.25 lakh people have been fully vaccinated in Goa while 2.15 persons are still partially vaccinated. A total of 24.66 lakh doses have been administered in the state so far.

Meanwhile, the State’s active Covid caseload crossed the 10,000 mark on Monday. The state presently has an active Covid caseload of 10,139. The DHS recorded 1,592 new cases in the last 24 hours. The daily positivity rate stood at a high of 27.28 per cent.

While one Covid related death was recorded, the number of hospitalizations also rose to 23. However, the majority of Covid positive patients continue to remain under home isolation. On Monday, 1,569 persons opted for home isolation.

Meanwhile, two more cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 have been confirmed and the reports of the same were received on Monday. Both patients are travellers. While one arrived in Goa from the UK, the other came from UAE. Both patients have completed 14 days of isolation and quarantine and have been discharged.

With the addition of these two cases, the total confirmed cases of Omicron in Goa have touched 21, all of whom have recovered and have been duly discharged as per protocol.
