With no sound nod, popular event in Aleixo’s constituency winds up

This may not ring in good news ahead of the festive season. Curtains will finally come down on a traditional X’ Mass Midnight Dance organised over the last two decades in Environment Minister Aleixobab Sequeira’s Nuvem constituency. Reason: Organisers say the sound restrictions on loud music do not allow them to hold the event without fear and favour. Organiser Deanbab D’Souza seemed to have finally decided to wind up the traditional dance at Nuvem since it’s nigh possible to hold the dance when the police jeeps do the rounds outside the venue at midnight. Any questions?

Relations between Congmen, Goa Forward under strain?

Relations between Congress leaders and the Goa Forward seem to have again come under the scanner. It’s an open secret that relations between the two parties had come under strain after the Leader of Opposition Yuribab Alemao led the opposition MLAs to Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai minus Goa Forward Chief Vijaibab Sardesai.

Sources now say that Vijaibab’s statement over the security breach seemed to be not taken lightly by the Congress leadership, which left no time to hit back at the Goa Forward Chief, sending alarm bells amongst the common friends of the Opposition leader and the Goa Forward Chief.

Will passport issue help revive Churchill’s political fortunes?

Varca strongman Bab Churchill seemed keeping his cards close to his chest vis-à-vis the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. He seemed undecided on the question of contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. And, he says there’s still time to decide which party or candidate he will support in the event he stays out of the election ring.

None other than Churchillbab, however, knows for sure that the Portuguese passport issue can be a passport for him to revive his political fortunes. With issues such as passport, and dual citizenship falling under the Centre’s domain, Churchillbab seemed playing his cards well. Wait and watch.

BJP 'shortlist' for LS elections creates buzz in saffron party

When the BJP burned an effigy of the opposition over the issue of the mimicry of Vice-president and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, four amongst the host of party leaders were the cynosure of all eyes. Reason: With Lok Sabha elections just a couple of months away, former chief minister Diggu, former deputy chief minister Babu Kavlekar, former two-time MLA Damubab Naik and ex-MP Narendrabhai Sawaikar, who all joined the protest, were indeed under the scanner of party workers. For, the BJP leadership seemed to have shortlisted the names of these four leaders for the South Goa Lok Sabha seat. An interesting development.

Whose 'hidden hand' is forcing MMC inaction against vendors?

These days, Madgavkars are wondering whose “hidden hand” is preventing the Margao Municipal Council from cracking a whip against illegal roadside vendors in the commercial capital. For, there seemed unanimity amongst all leaders, be it MLA Diggu, ex-deputy chief minister Babu Ajgaonkar, or city BJP leader Sharmadbab Raiturcar, that there ought to be no place for the roadside vendors.

The moot question, however, remains unanswered “ how come Margao civic chief Damubab Shirodkar keeps repeating that no one should interfere when the Municipality goes about the job of clearing the illegalities? Indeed, a time for introspection.

Tourism Department’s controversial pay parking project at world famous Colva beach has drawn the ire of the ruling and opposition alike. Congress, however, seemed to have maintained stoic silence. Be it the AAP Benaulim MLA Venzybab, former MLA Mickkybab, Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai and Warrenbab Alemao, they all expressed their reservations against the parking project. Even Environment Minister Aleixobab Sequeira has favoured exemption of Goan vehicles from the…
