Father-daughter duo find no place in TMC panels

GUILHERME ALMEIDA | MAY 22, 2022, 12:19 AM IST

It’s a sheer coincidence that the father-daughter duo of Churchill and Valanka Alemao do not find a mention in the Trinamool Congress ad hoc committees. Neither Churchillbab figures on the core committee, nor Valankabai’s name finds a mention in the list of ad hoc coordinators or committee members. Names of MP Luizinhbab Faleiro, besides a host of defeated candidates found mention in the panels. Churchillbab was not available for comment as he is reportedly holed up in a Gulf country with family. Wait and watch.

Debate over senior S Goa officials’ appointments

Did the Personnel Department headed by Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant have its way in the recent postings of officials in the South Collectorate, besides the appointment of Margao Municipal Chief Officer? The Collectorate and the Margao Municipality come under the Ministries headed by Babush and the Baba respectively. Even as political observers were trying to figure out which official had the backing of which politician, sources say the Personnel Department had its way in the appointment of the senior officers in respect of these departments in down South. Any takers?

Kamat again skips Cong function

How many Congress MLAs turned up for the programme to mark the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on Saturday? Just around three MLAs were present for the programme at Bambolim and later at the Congress House. The spotlight, however, was on Diggu, conspicuous by his absence at the programme, once again leaving tongues wagging in party circles. Diggu’s absence was the talking point in party circles as he had stayed away from the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the highest decision making body of the party and the party’s Chinthan Shivir. Any questions?

Task cut out for Luizinho to revive party

TMC MP from Bengal, Luizinhbab Faleiro may have a task cut out to take the Mamata Banerjee-led party forward in Goa. The veteran of many political and social battles knows for sure that the leadership is facing a herculean task to revive the party in Goa. Party building is a long-term exercise, but for the moment, Luizinhbab seemed to be bracing up for the monsoon session of Parliament. The TMC Rajya Sabha MP from Bengal has not missed a single opportunity to highlight issues plaguing Goa. Wait and watch whether Luizinhbab has anything in store for Goemkars in the ensuing Parliament session.

Will Yuri field his panels for p’yat polls?

Hazard a guess how would Cuncolim Congress young MLA Yuri Alemao go about the ensuing Panchayat polls? Well, a year ago, Yuri and his team had gone all out to wrest control over the Cuncolim Municipal Council, to prove a point or two to his friends and foes. Post-election, political observers are trying to figure out whether Yuri will field his panel of candidates for the panchayats of Chandor and Guirdolim, Macazana, Ambaulim and Paroda, where arch rival and ex-MLA Clafaciobab Dias enjoys support and presence. Wait and watch.
