Former Sesa Football Academy coach Ajay Acharya, been named as the Technical Director cum head coach of U-18 Luca Soccer Club, Malappuram, Kerala for the upcoming season.
Established in 2017, the club is owned by Navas KV and Musthafa Kamal.
Acharya is someone who has worked extensively in training budding professionals and then at an advanced level in the broadened youth development structure of Sesa Football Academy . In that context, he has ample understanding of what goes behind developing an individual and also giving shape to a successful youth team that can excel and win laurels in the various developmental games that happen weekly. He believes that it is a step by step process, but focused mechanisms regarding the same should be put in place across the country so that its collective results could be yielded in the foreseeable future.
"The challenge is about the quality of players and providing them experience. You can’t buy experience in a supermarket.”said Acharya
“I will scout the football players from the league and I saw big potential in them. I believe that we can do a great job with these players," said the former Sesa Goa head coach who was formally announced by the team management after his appointment in the hot seat.
Having worked for Sesa Football Academy in the Goa Pro league and youth team of Panjim Footballers, Acharya said that he has followed Kerala football for the past few years. “I have been waiting for this opportunity for a long time. It was a big dream to come here. I want to be at a high level and improve my career. I think this is the best point of my career,” he added.
The Goan is known for his attacking style of play and said that his goal is to win more matches. “The attitude of my players must be attacking. I like the team to enjoy and score more goals. We need to take risks in football."
He also pointed out that Luca needed to work on improving the physical conditions of their players and make suitable amendments in the congested schedule of Kerala football.
