MARGAO: Cumborda Sports Club delivered a dominant performance by thrashing St Anthony's Sports Club 6-0 to secure their spot in the quarterfinals of the Batora United 9-a-side football tournament, at St. Alex Church ground, Curtorim.
The encounter began at a frenetic pace, with both sides eager to find the net. However, it was Cumborda who took control, scoring three goals in each half. Mackson opened the scoring for Cumborda in the 10th minute, followed by Veron who doubled their lead five minutes later. St. Anthony's, despite efforts from Seldon and Sandy, failed to convert their chances. Deslie piled on the misery for St. Anthony's right before halftime, putting Cumborda comfortably ahead 3-0.
The second half mirrored the first, with Cumborda maintaining their offensive dominance. Veron secured his brace in the 35th minute, while Rio added two quick goals in the 40th and 45th minutes to further extend Cumborda's lead. Despite having opportunities, St. Anthony's couldn't find a way past Cumborda's defense, ultimately falling short.
