Goa ready for tough test: Jonathan

Goa coach Jonathan Faleiro has said that his side Goa is ready and rearing to go in the opening match of the Junior Girls' National Football Championship, at RDT Stadium Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh against West Bengal on August 11.

"We are looking forward to presenting a strong and good match and a positive result as well. We will do our best to achieve victory, and we realise that the match will be difficult against a strong team, so it is necessary for us to fight to achieve our goal, which is to win." said Goa head coach Jonathan Faleiro

“I am happy to be here and the team needs to work hard and develop constantly, and the important thing for us is to always be better, so if we do this we can achieve our goals,” he added.

"We are coming from a good preparation for the season but minor hicups in the camp six girls represented the King's School in the All India Subroto Mukherjee football tournament and managed the squad with the 17 players in the camp and they joined the squad after their exit from the tournament," Faleiro said.

"Our Group is tough and made it difficult for any competitor. They are a good team in defence and dangerous in counterattacks, so it will be a difficult start for us. We have prepared well for the season and we feel that we are ready for this challenge,” he added.

"We are waiting for a difficult match against a strong team that should not be underestimated and includes players with good capabilities and a very good coach. So it will be a strong and difficult matches, but we were able at some point to achieve a very good result against an opponent," concluded Faleiro.

Zuriel Tavares has been named as captain of the squad. Goa are in Group B along with Haryana, West Bengal and Manipur.
