Dicarpale Sports Club edged past Maina Sports Club 3-2 via tie-breaker to move to the semi-finals of the 17th All Goa Guirdolim Panchayat Cup, organised by Guirdolim Club, at Chandor Church Sports Complex.
The match started with Maina Sports Club putting Dicarpale on the defensive. Jameson Noronha of Maina was at his creative best spraying precision passes to his forward line at will. The Maina forwards seemed to have left their scoring boots at home as they couldn't convert easy chances that came their way. Dicarpale created only one chance in the first half but Bonny Niasso failed to connect to a Donald Rocha through ball. At the lemon break the scores read 0-0.
Changing ends, Maina created quite a few scoring opportunities but Baccha couldn't convert any of these. A long range effort by Caitano Viegas of Maina was tipped over for a corner kick by the Dicarpale keeper in the 46th minute. Dicarpale seemed to have parked the bus and were successful in taking the match to the tie-breaker.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Dicarpale scored through Rajim, Milton and Ajay while for Maina only Jameson and Marcus were on target. Dicarpale Sports Club will now meet Verna Sports Club in the semi-finals.
Jameson Noronha of Maina Sports Club was awarded the Man of the Match award by Darwin Cardoso, General Secretary of Guirdolim Club.
