A hat-trick by Francisco Andrade helped Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda emerge as champions of the 13th Wilred Leisure Football Cup organised by Wilred Leisure SC Curtorim. They defeated Davorlim SC 3-2 in the finals played at DSYA Ground Curatorim on Sunday.
The finals were played in front of a large Sunday crowd, and Davorlim scored the opening goal in the 7th minute through Royson Colaco with a well-placed shot. However, Aden of Davorlim brought down Francisco Andrade of Fatorda in the danger area, resulting in a penalty kick which Francisco converted in the 22nd minute. Davorlim equalised through Prince Figueredo, but their joy was short-lived as Francisco Andrade scored again for Fatorda just before half-time. At half-time, the score remained 2-2.
In the second half, Cliff Barreto's long-range effort was punched away by Davorlim keeper Francisco Colaco for a corner. Later, in the 46th minute, Davorlim's Velroy Colaco failed to tap the ball into an open net. The winning goal came in the 60th minute with a powerful volley from Francisco Andrade, completing his hat-trick for Fatorda.
Francisco Andrade was the star of the match and received five awards: Man of the Match, Best Striker of the Finals, First Corner of the Finals, Hat-trick, and Farewell Goal of the Finals. The Best Goalkeeper award went to Francisco Colaco of Davorlim. Prince Figueredo of Davorlim was awarded Best Half, while Kevon Araujo of Fatorda received Best Defender. Karol Soares provided the Farewell Touch, and Assinora United was named the Best Discipline Team.
Reginald Lourenco, MLA of Curtorim Constituency, was the chief guest and presented the prizes in the presence of Alcino D'Silva, Sarpanch of VP Curtorim, Jacob Ataide, Jackson Fernandes, President of Wilred Leisure, Michelle Rebello, ZP, Bruno Lawrence, businessman, Anthony Pango, VP of Goa Football Association, and other dignitaries who were present for the finals.
