The seventh edition of the GFA Vedanta Women's League will kick off on Tuesday, September 12.
The league opener will see Compassion FC go head-to-head with FC Tuem at the Navelim ground, while Sesa FA will clash with Vintage 73 at the Sirsaim ground in the other fixture of the day.
GFA President Dr Caitano Fernandes emphasised the importance of gender equality in sports, stating, "Football knows no gender, and it's high time that we provide the same opportunities and recognition to our talented female footballers. The Women's Football League will be a platform where they can shine and inspire generations to come. And for the first time ever, the games will be broadcast live on SportsCast India."
The competition will feature six teams: Compassion FC, FC Tuem, Cana Benaulim, Sesa FA, Sinquerim FC, and Vintage 73. Matches will be held at four venues - Duler Stadium, Mapusa, Rosary ground, Navelim, Sesa Academy ground, Sirsaim, and Guirim ground. The double-leg league spans over three months, promising thrilling encounters and excitement for football enthusiasts, and will culminate in November.
