Goa is aiming for a strong medal haul at the second edition of the Khelo India Beach Games, being held at Diu from January 5 to 11, 2026. The tournament officially began on January 5.
The state’s athletes will compete in five sports: beach soccer, beach volleyball, sepak takraw, open sea swimming, and pencak silat. In the inaugural 2025 edition, Goa finished 18th, winning three medals”two silvers in men’s beach soccer and men’s doubles sepak takraw, and a bronze in women’s individual pencak silat.
Goa’s beach volleyball teams got off to a flying start registering straight-set victories in all their matches.
In the day session, Goa Team 1 defeated Gujarat Team 2 2“0, winning both sets 21“14. Goa Team 2 beat Odisha Team 2 2“0 with scores of 21“15 and 21“11.
The evening matches saw Goa continue their dominance. Goa Team 2 overcame Telangana Team 2 2“0 (21“17, 21“13), while Goa Team 1 recorded a commanding 2“0 victory over Rajasthan Team 1, taking both sets 21“10.
This year, Goa is targeting medals in men’s beach soccer and volleyball, women’s sepak takraw, men’s and women’s pencak silat, and men’s and women’s open sea swimming. A total of 32 Goan athletes are participating, supported by seven coaches and managers.
