Krishnamurthy Siddharth's unbeaten knock of 151 went in vain as Goa were beaten by 237 runs against Tripura in the Group C match of the Ranji Trophy at Agartala on Monday.
On Day 4, Siddharth and Lakshay Garg looked to carry on from where they stopped at 48/3. However, things did'nt go according to plan as their partnership lasted for another 15 overs before Garg was sent back to the pavilion for 27 runs.
Despite Krishnamurthy's brilliance, none of the Goan batsmen could support him in their quest to chase down a mammoth traget of 501 runs. Tripura picked up wickets at regular intervals to restrict their opponents from taking away the match. Skipper Darshan Misal's resistance lasted for a brief phase before being caught by Das.
Manisankar Murasingh and Rana Dutta scalped three wickets each for the home side while Abhijit Sarkar picked two wickets. Bikramjit Debnath and Sudip Chatterjee got a wicket each.
With this big margin win, Tripura now share six points along Karnataka and Gujarat but sit on top of the Group C with a better quotient. Goa host Chandigarh on January 12 in their next outing in the Ranji Trophy.
