PANAJI: Dempo College of Commerce and Economics celebrated Founder’s Day on January 6, 2024, commemorating the 134th Birth Anniversary of founder Srinivassa Sinai Dempo. The event included dignitaries, including DCT Trustees, Pallavi Dempo, and Yatish Dempo, who garlanded the founder’s bust, and a ceremonial lamp lighting. Principal Prof Manoj Kamat highlighted the Dempo family’s philanthropic contributions to higher education in Goa. The celebration featured Dempo Biz Quest 2024, a state-level inter-collegiate quiz where Goa College of Engineering emerged as winners.
Scholarships were endowed to 17 Goan students, and the Alumni Association Financial Aid Award was granted. Certificates of merit were given for the Airport Management course, and the Dempo Charities Trust Award honored Manasi Ugvekar pursuing a PhD at Goa University. Cash prizes were awarded to meritorious students in academics and extracurricular activities, concluding with a vote of thanks by Vice-Principal Dr Sangeeta Chakrabarty.
