The exponential construction activity has increased the possibility of contamination of the water table due to the increased number of septic tanks especially those which are not properly constructed and maintained and also if the soil is sandy. Therefore it is important to test your well water more so if you have increased reports of typhoid infections or diarrhoea etc in house/neighbourhood or if any animal has fallen in your well. The water can be tested at the Directorate of Health Services , Campal, Panaji after following required procedure. Prepare a letter giving required details. Fill a clean 5 litre can with water from the well. Take a 500ml water bottle, and then fill it with your well water. The correct way to do it is to dip the bottle directly in the well or collect it directly from the pump. Deliver both to the DHS for testing on working days.
