MARGAO: Goa Police blanked Mandopa Sporting Club 2-0 in the GFA First Division league, at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Friday.
Goa Police took the lead in the 17th minute when Abdul Khan found the roof of the net. Spurred by the lead, the cops intensfied their attacks but their forwards were erratic after reaching the final third.
At the other end, Mandopa were subdued and looked disjointed.
The second half continued in same vein with their forwards firing shots which were shot wide. Sunny Fernandes put the issue beyond doubt in the 78th minute.
In another match, at SAG Trinity ground, Benaulim, Cuncolim Union edged past Dempo Juniors 3-2. Rui Carlo Noronha de Pereira put Dempo Juniors into the lead in the eighth minute. However ,their joy was short-lived at the stroke of lemon break when Arun Naik cancelled the lead. At the stroke half time, Adarsh Kumar regained the lead. In the 76th minute, Hanslum Furdado added his name on the scorer list. A minute later, Rui Carlo Noronha pulled a goal back for Dempo Juniors.
