Goan Rebels, led by Tejan Fallary, edged out Power Smashers 120-115 in the second edition of the All Goa Vasco Badminton League, 2022 (VBL), organised by Chicalim Badminton Club on Sunday.
Several of the State’s top ranking players including India International player Arjun Fallary battled it out in the six-team championship at the multipurpose stadium at Fatorda.
The winners (Goan Rebels) won a cash purse of Rs 1 lakh while the runners-up team (Power Smashers) were awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000. Team Ace Raqueteers won third place beating Team Flying Gravity, 120-101. The team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 35,000.
Sanath Kamath and Yasmin Sayed (both Goan Rebels) emerged as Best Male and Female Players of the League. The VBL was a team event played in a league format where each team played the other 5 teams. 8 games per match were played comprising of 15 points per game leading a cumulative score of 120 points per match. At the end of the league stages, top two teams competed in the finals and 3rd / 4th placed teams competed for the 3rd place prize.
