Goan Varta defeated Tarun Bharat by 7 wickets to win the Inter-Media season-ball cricket tournament organised by Sports Journalists Association of Goa in association with Goa Cricket Association. The matches were held at GCA ground, Porvorim.
Batting first, Tarun Bharat scored 49 runs in the allotted six overs. In reply, Goan Varta chased down the target in just four overs for the loss of three wickets.
In the morning session, Goan Varta defeated Prudent Media to book their place in finals, while Tarun Bharat secured a win over AIR-DD in the other last-four clash.
Sports Minister Govind Gaude was the chief guest for the prize distribution ceremony. GCA secretary Vipul Phadke, GCA Director of Coaches Prakash Mayekar, SJAG President Mahesh Gaonkar, Kishor Naik Gaonkar, Editor of Goan Varta Live, also graced the function. Bambino Dias compered the function.
Individual Prizes: Man of the Match - Gangaram Sawant (Goan Varta), Best Batsman - Durgesh Naik (Goan Varta), Best Bowler - Sachin Dalvi (Goan Varta), Best Wicketkeeper - Anil Kalekar (Tarun Bharat), Man of the tournament - Kedar Shirgaonkar (AIR-DD), Best Fielder - Umesh Zarmekar (Goan Varta), Disciplined Team - AIR-DD.
