Top seed IM Nitish Belurkar along with Bezstrakhov Dmitry and Mandar Lad were in joint lead with 6 points at the end of the 6th round of All Goa Rapid Chess Liberation Cup tournament held at Dr KB Hedgewar School, Cujira, Bambolim.
Paarth Salvi, Devesh Naik and AIM Ethan Vaz were close behind with 5.5 points. A record 300 players from all over Goa participated in this annual event.
Earlier, chief guest, Rosy Fernandes, panch of St Cruz, lighted the traditional lamp in the presence of Convenor, Goa Chess Ad Hoc committee, Sachin Arolkar and Kishor Bandekar, Sharendra Naik, Sarvanand Shirodkar, Chief Arbiter, Sanjay Kavlekar, Queens Club President Dr Roopa Belurkar and Dr Rekha Poduwal. The first move was played between the chief guest and IM Nitish Belurkar.
