Aarth, Jennica win U-13 State chess titles

Aarth Karapurkar and Jennica Sequeira won the Parampujya Kalavati Aai All Goa U-13 State Chess Championship in open and girls categories respectively.

The tournament was organised by the Ponda Taluka Chess Association (PTCA) at Wagle High School, Mangeshi. Arvind Mhamal was the chief arbiter of the tournament where 160 players participated.

In the open category, Aaryavrat Desai, Aarav Chopdekar, Aniket Ekka, Vihaan Tari and Hriday Morajkar finished 2nd to 6th respectively. In the girls' category, Vaishnavi Parab, Rachel Pereira, Diya Sawal, Saeeja Dessai and Shriya Patil finished 2nd to 6th respectively.

Other results - Best U-11: Shubh Borkar, Erwin Albuquerque, Navya Narvekar and Asmi Terse; Best U-9: Joshua Telles, Shaurya Agrasani, Skyla Rodrigues and Diya Naik; Best U-7: Prayank Gaonkar, Evan Telles, Sidonia Da Cunha and Myra Mundhekar.

Special Olympics futsal at Camorlim 
MARGAO: First All Goa Jack Souza Ferrao Memorial Special Olympics Futsal Championship 2023 has been organised by Nosa Senhora De Rosa Mystica Association Goa in collaboration with Special Olympics Bharat Goa, Gujarati Samaj Educational Trust Special School, Margao and Rev Father Franky Fernandes - OFM CAPUCHIN.

The tournament will be played on Tuesday, September 12 at Camp Souza Multi Sports Facility, Camorlim, Salcete, from 8 am to 4 pm. Sixty special students from six teams comprising of six schools -- St Xavier Academy - Old Goa, Sanjay Mighty Royals - Porvorim, Gujarati Samaj Special School - Margao, Keshav Seva Sadhana - Bicholim, Sanjay School - Vasco, and Sanjay School - Curchorem will participate. These players will also feature in a unified futsal match alongside International footballers.

Tennis ball cricket trials on Sept 15
PANAJI: The Goa Tennis Ball Cricket Association will hold 1st Stage selection trials to pick the boys' and girls' teams for the 28th Sub Junior U-17 National Tennis Ball Cricket Championship to be held at Dhule, Maharashtra from November 3 to 6.

The selection trials will be held on September 15 at DSYA ground, Kunkolim, Priol at 3 pm. Interested players can report to Hemant Khot or Ajinkya Naik with a complete playing kit and photo copies of their birth certificate and Aadhaar card. Players registration for the year 2023-24 is mandatory. Registration forms will be available at the venue.
