Goa suffer 114-run defeat against Mumbai

PANAJI

Goa’s U-19 women’s team suffered a 114-run defeat against Mumbai in the Inter-State U-19 Siechem Trophy after their batting line-up failed to withstand a disciplined Mumbai bowling attack. Chasing a challenging target of 181, Goa were bowled out for just 66 in 15.2 overs.

Goa struggled from the outset in the run chase, losing wickets at regular intervals. Opener Rakshanda Kalangutkar was dismissed for nine, while Nikhila Naik contributed 18. Muskaan Sab provided some resistance, scoring 20 off 33 balls, but Goa could not build any substantial partnership.

Mumbai’s bowlers kept the pressure on throughout the innings. Purti Naik was the standout performer, claiming three wickets for just 11 runs. Megan Rodrigues picked up two wickets, while Tanisha Sharma and Shravani Patil took one each as Mumbai wrapped up Goa’s innings for 66.

Earlier, Mumbai had posted a formidable 180 for two in 20 overs. Tanisha Sharma top-scored with 76 off 48 balls, hitting 11 fours and two sixes, while Ira Jadhav scored 61 off 45 balls. Dhruvi Trivedi remained unbeaten on 33.

Goa will look to improve their batting performance in their next outing, particularly in building partnerships and handling pressure during the middle overs.
