The 4th Goa Triathlon will be held at Bambolim on Sunday (Feb 12) from 7am to 12 noon. The event will be organised by Enduro Sports Goa and the triathlon this year is in aid of the COOJ mental health foundation.
The event, which has gained immense momentum over a period of time, is set to attract close to 500 athletes both beginners and professionals from across the world.
A triathlon is a multiple-stage competition involving the completion of three continuous and sequential endurance disciplines and involves swimming, cycling, and running in immediate succession over various distances.
From having 100 participants in the first edition to having crossed 500 registrations this year, The Goa Triathlon is lauded by present and former athletes as one of India’s best Triathlon events. The Goa Triathlon is the only Triathlon event in India to include an open water sea swim as well as a cycle and running course closed off to vehicular traffic.
The Goa Triathlon offers athletes the choice of three categories: the Super Sprint Triathlon, The Olympic Triathlon and the Team Olympic Triathlon.
The Olympic event begins at 7.20am with a 1.5 km swim in the Bambolim Bay, immediately followed by 40 kms of cycling around the Goa University road circuit, which also doubles up as the course for the 10 km run which concludes the race.
For the 2017 edition, The Goa Triathlon will feature an event expo from 11am on February 11 till 3pm on February 12 at the Bambolim Beach Resort. This event has the support of the Goa Tourism Department. Fans will be able to catch all the action from a designated spot on the Bambolim beach and from the footpaths of the Goa University road.

Total prizes to be won is Rs 2 lakh. Individual Olympic: Men's & Women's - 1st place: Rs 20,000. 2nd place: Rs 15,000. 3rd place: Rs 10,000. Super Sprint: Men's & Women's: 1st place: Rs 4,000. 2nd place: Rs 2,000. 3rd place: Rs 1,500. Individual Olympic Team: Men's - 1st place: Rs 15,000. 2nd place: Rs 12,000. 3rd place: Rs 9,000. Special Prize for all women's team: Rs 9,000.
