The Goa Football Development Council “ Socorro football development centre was a sea of green & yellow as the 80 trainees got their first football kits.
Speaking on the occasion Shantaram Naik, Council member, GFDC expressed pleasure in seeing young children in football attire provided by GFDC. He urged parents to continue sending their trainees for practices so that they could become future footballers.
Addressing the gathering Dr Rufino Monteiro, Chairman “ GFDC was pleased that the children from Socorro have been training regularly which has earned them football kits from GFDC.
He further spoke about his time when no football gear was provided when playing football but now through the vision of the state government, GFDC the children are fortunate to receive football shoes, jerseys, shins and socks to help them develop as a player.
With the kits distributed he asked the trainees to perform well in the GFDC Rising Stars Football Festival Season 3 which is scheduled to begin on Nov 28.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Rohan Khaunte, MLA of Porvorim Constituency felt great pride in seeing young boys and girls in football attire and thanked GFDC for working so hard towards development of football and the young trainees. He further stated: "Football and other sports teach us great values such as team spirit, togetherness ethics, discipline and so on which are essential aspects of life." Among the dignitaries present were Ditosa Lobo, Sarpanch and Suresh Kavatankar of Friends XI Sports Club.
