Aizawl FC rallied from behind to defeat Real Kashmir 3-1 in a Group B match of AIFF U-15 Youth League playoff at Rosary ground, Navelim

on Thursday.

Real Kashmir took the lead through Mohammad Arslan in the 31st minute before goals in second half by Lal Engkima (72nd), Malsawmtluanga Pautu (74th) and Ayush Dev Chhetri (87th) sealed a comprehensive victory for Aizawl.

It was a physical battle in the first half hour which saw both the teams getting bookings. In that period, Aizawl enjoyed the better share of exchanges and had some shots on target with Lal Remruata trying a free kick which was kept out by Real Kashmir goalkeeper Muhammad

Reyaz.

The deadlock was broken when Real Kashmir’s Mohammad Arslan struck the opening goal. Arslan received a pass from the right before he mazed past three defenders to poke the ball into the net.

Aizawl looked a little rattled and Real Kashmir almost scored a second but keeper Zodin Puia made a double save. There were many heated moments in the game and the referee had to cool down the frayed tempers.

The second half saw Aizawl dominate with Lal Famkima, M Pautu and Ayush Chhetri threatening the rival citadel. Aizawl’s Puia then conceded a penalty for a high boot on Kashmir forward Adil Shabar in the 60th minute. However, Talib Gulzar shot wide from the spot.

Aizawl then bounced back with two goals in the blink of an eye. Both the goals came from the left flank. The first saw Lalruatpuia float in a free kick from the left and their captain Lal Engkima rose high to nod in the 72nd minute. Two minutes later, a move again from the left saw M Pautu score from close range as they made it 2-1 in the 74th minute. Aizawl drove the last nail late in the match through Chettri.

In another match, DSK Shvajians thrashed Kerala Blasters 4-2. DSK Shivajians broke the deadlock in the 11th minute. Bhuvanesh Rajesh Shendre doubled the lead in the 13th minute.

After the change of ends, DSK Shivajians exerted more pressure on the rival defence and scored again through Sonminthanf Haokip. John Lalfamika then scored a self goal in the 75th minute. Unfazed, DSK Shivajians kept on attacking and Bawi Rou Sang struck a second time. Alen Walter reduced the margin for Kerala in the

89th minute.
