Akshay won 1st 30-yard control single wicket light ball cricket tournament organised in memory of late Estaqueio Vales by Davorlim-Dikarpale Sports Lovers and Davorlim Sports Club at Laymati ground, Davorlim.
In the final, Dilip scored 7 runs in an over and Akshay scored 8 runs to win the tournament and claim a prize of Rs 8,000 and a trophy. The runner-up won Rs 5000 and a trophy while the the semifinal losers won Rs 1,500 and a trophy each.
Chief guest, ex-MLA Benjamin Silva, guest of honour PI Filomeno Costa, in-charge of Traffic Cell, Colva, Samir Naik, Jayesh Vernekar, and president Seby Costa were present and gave away the prizes.

Sirvodem Boys defeated FC Bellem 7-0 and moved into the semifinals of Navelim Villagers Union inter-ward football at Rosary ground, Navelim on Wednesday. Rogan netted a hat-trick and Mark scored a brace for Sirvodem Boys.
Football season kicks off today
The 2023-24 season of Indian football is set to kick off on June 1, 2023, and end on May 31, 2024, the federation announced on Wednesday. The same season dates are applicable for both Men’s and Women’s football. Professional clubs across the country can register their players across two windows, the first of which, will begin on June 9, and terminate on August 31, 2023. Meanwhile, the second window for registration of professional players will begin on January 1, and end on January 31, 2024. The two windows of registration are applicable to both men's and women's football. The registration period for amateur players, on the other hand, will begin on June 1, 2023, and end on May 31, 2024, for both men and women footballers.
Vaz felicitates Odisha coach Miranda
Odisha FC coach Clifford Miranda was felicitated at the hands of Cavelossim Sarpanch Dixon Vaz. After Odisha FC won the Super Cup, Miranda brought Goa into the limelight as he hails from Betabatim. Miranda grabbed the headlines and was felicitated by Vaz for his stellar contribution. "He always had leadership qualities and a fighting spirit in him. He was physically very tough and always worked towards winning every game,” Vaz said.
