Albert Developers continued their rich form as they maintained their unbeaten run with a 6-2 win over Milagres Sports Club in a GFA Second Division League playoffs match played on Tuesday.
After Round 2, Albert Developers are on six points at the top followed by Candolim Sports Club (4 points), who beat Shree Nagesh Maharudra in another match on Tuesday. Milagres SC are on one point while Shree Nagesh Maharudra are yet to open
their account.
Gaurav Kankonkar’s performance was the highlight of the evening as the lad scored a treble for Albert Developers. Riding high on confidence following their win in the previous encounter, they began as clear favourites and took the lead in the fourth minute through Gaurav. Albert Developers’ versatile player Joel Fernandes added the second in the 23rd minute.
But just when it looked as Albert Developers would have an easy walk in the park, Milagres SC scored twice with Nitesh Salgaocar and Valito Miranda scoring to make it 2-2. The half time score read 2-2.
Crossing over, the teams had to start all over again. Albert Developers gained the lead once again in the 54th minute through Joel Fernandes who completed his brace in the 66th minute with a sublime strike. Milagres then found themselves down by two goals and had a mountain to climb to get back into the game.
Their surge to get the much needed goals cost them dearly as Albert Developers scored two more goals late in the game through Gaurav, who completed his hat-trick, netting in the 74th
and 82nd mintues.
