Riding on a superb brace by striker Samson Simoes Ambelim Sports Club overcame Raia Sporting Club 3-2 to enter the semi-finals of All Goa Chinchinim-Deussua Panchayat Cup football tournament at Church ground, Chinchinim on Monday.
Raia surged ahead in the 29th minute when Remedious Pango beat the rival goalkeeper with a rasping shot. Stunned by the early reversal Ambelim got into attacking mode but failed to net the equaliser. Ambelim players after getting a pep talk from coach at the lemon-break put up a superlative performance and immediately cancelled the lead in the 40th minute when Samson Simoes beat the rival goalkeeper with a clinical finish. After tasting the equalizer, Ambelim continued to hunt for goals and in the 50th minute Samson Simoes inflated the tally off a well-measured cross from Jade Colaco. Ten minutes later, Jade added his name on the scorers' list to gives his team a 3-1 cushion. At the stroke of full time, Remedious Pango reduced the deficit and also registered his brace for Raia.
Curtorim Gym beat ICSC Paroda
Curtorim Gymkhana defeated Immaculate Conception Sports Club (ICSC) Paroda 2-1 to enter the semi-finals of All Goa Joao Francisco Pacheco memorial football tournament at Betalbatim Sports Complex on Monday. There was no score at lemon-break .Curtorim were the better of the two teams in the opening half. Post resumption, Curtorim were a dominant lot and unleashed a flurry of attacks as they broke the deadlock in the 45th minute when Nelson Fernandes slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot. Nelson Fernandes doubled the lead in the 48th minute. Down by 0-2, Paroda went all out in search of goals and in the 78th minute Francis Fernandes reduced the margin.
