Sporting Club of Davorlim routed United Club of Utorda 5-0 to storm into the quarter-finals of McDowell's N0 1 Yaari Premier Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Cuncolim Union at Government School playground, Cuncolim on Monday.Sporting Davorlim led 2-0 at the break.The highlight of the day was a brace each by Brian Furtado and Stanley Miranda.
Davorlim were on the ball right from the word go.They pegged the Utorda lads back in their own half and their passing and speed movement particularly down the flanks was kept under check. The spectators didn't have to wait long to see Davorlim surging ahead in the 30th minute when Stanley Miranda was in the right place at the right time to pounce on to the opportunity and finish in style.That goal opened the floodgates and in the 32nd minute, Brian Furtado's brilliant effort doubled the lead to give the Davorlim team a 2-0 lead.
In the second session, Davorlim outplayed their opponents in all departments as they scored their third goal in the 39th minute when Brian Furtado punished the rival goalkeeper with a neat finish off a well-measured cross from Joel Furtado.
At the other end, Utorda continued their hunt for goals but Allister Monteiro's hot-bloodied shot missed the target narrowly. Davorlim dealt another blow in the 46th minute when Sunny put the issue beyond doubt when he beat the rival goalkeeper Seiko Costa handsomely. In the 50th minute,Stanley Miranda unleashed a volley which crashed into the net.
