Ambelim Sports Club produced a determined performance to eke out a crucial 1-0 win against Uguem's Rising Sports Club and secure a semi-finals berth in All Goa Bernardo Furtado memorial inter village football tournament organized by Navelim Villagers Union. In the match played at Rosary Ground, Navelim on Monday, both the teams adopted an aggressive approach but it resulted in only one goal for the entire match. The winner was scored in the 40th minute when Jason Cardozo slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot.
Stung by that setback, Uguem Rising tried hard to get the equalizer and pressed more men upfront but the match leveller eluded them. At the other hand, Ambelim had a couple of scoring chances to inflate their lead but their forwards muffed gilt-edged chances.
