Anirudh Parsekar (1467), the second seed from Vasco, won the second tournament championship of the MTCA Chess League 2016-17 by winning all seven rounds of the tournament which was conducted at Ravindra Bhawan, Baina, Vasco recently.
In the last round, Anirudh defeated top seed Bhimappa Harijan (1478) from Sada. Anirudh also won first tournament of the series held on August 15. The players who wins maximum tournaments out of monthly 12 tournaments to be held in 2016-17 season shall be declared as the league champion.
Navin Morajkar (1264) stood second with 6 points with a better tie-breaker score against Shvesh Naik (1186), who also scored 6 points. In all, 60 players from the taluka participated in the tournament. This league is promoted by the MTCA for development of chess among school students and to train them for better performance under the assistance of SAG coach Swapnil Hoble, who is advising the MTCA in organizing the event.

Best Under 5 Boys/Girls - Arush Salgaonkar (1) and Sarfaraz Ikra (3).
The third monthly tournament of this series will be conducted on October 2 at Ravindra Bhawan, Baina.
