Assagao Union down St Clara HS

Assagao Union High School, Assagao, Shree Ganesh High School, Ganeshpuri Mapusa, Saraswat Vidyalaya, Mapusa, GS Amonkar Vidya Mandir, Mapusa and St Joseph High School, Arpora moved into the next round of the Bardez Taluka Under-14 boys football tournament played at Assonora Sports Complex.

In the first match of the day, Assagao Union High School defeated St Clara High School, Assonora 1-0. The all important goal was scored by Dattesh Dessai. In the second match, Shree Ganesh High School, Mapusa defeated Shree Shantadurga Vidyalaya, Pirna 5-0. Pradeep Singh scored a hat-trick, Prasad Mullourie scored one while the fifth goal was a self goal by the Pirna school.
In the evening session, Saraswat Vidyalaya, Mapusa got the better of Shri Ram Vidya Mandir, Colvale 4-0. Rohan Mangaonkar scored a brace while Mukesh Naik and Yuvraj Singh Rane scored a goal each for Saraswat Vidyalaya. In the fourth match of the day, GS Amonkar Vidya Mandir, Mapusa defeated Government High School, Guirim 4-2 via tie-breaker after both the teams played a goalless draw in the regulation time. Somesh Talwar, Vallabh Mandrekar, Neeraj Karapurkar and Anand Mesta converted for GS Amonkar Vidya Mandir while Rohit Bilung and Badal Mallik converted for the Guirim school.
In the last match of the day, St Joseph High School, Arpora defeated Sacred Heart of Jesus High School, Anjuna by 2-1. Topan Minz and Rushan Halarnkar scored for the Arpora school while Tritez Porob succeeded in reducing the margin for the Anjuna
school.

MARGAO The tournament will see a total of 99 teams across the country rubbing shoulders with squads from abroad. At least 10 foreign teams are expected from five countries.
