Assolna reach Carmona Veterans semi-finals

Assolna Veterans beat Bardez Veterans in the tie-breaker 3-1 to move into the semi-finals of Carmona Veterans football tournament organised by Janot Veterans at Carmona Panchayat ground on Saturday.  

The teams played attacking football to entertain the weekend crowd. As the match progressed, the Bardez Veterans took over the control and nearly broke the deadlock but Assolna Veterans goalkeeper came to his side’s rescue by palming away the ball.   

Post resumption, Assolna Veterans were a dominant lot with their forwards showing extra urgency and they came close to scoring but Vishant Pednekar’s snap shot missed the target narrowly. Assolna Veterans had the last laugh in the penalty shootout. Allwyn Fernandes of Bardez Veterans was adjudged as the Man of the match.
