Benny XI edge Milagres 3-2

Benny XI Sports Club rallied well to get the better of Milagres Sports Club 3-2 in the GFA’s Third Division Football league match, at Duler Stadium, here, on Friday.

Milagres SC took the lead in the early stages, thanks to an own goal by a Benny XI player. They trailed 1-2 at half time.

However, Benny XI regrouped and equalized in the 15th minute through Jesroy, who gave finishing touches to a pass by Emmanuel D’Costa.

Minutes later, Shailesh Misquin put Milagres SC back in the driver’s seat after converting a penalty. Benny XI’s Shakil Gadekar received a yellow card for bringing down Rego Barretto of Milagres SC in the danger zone.

After a slow start to the second session, Benny XI started to click into gear and with five minutes to the final whistle, Oswin Goveia curled in a spectacular left-footer past rival custodian Jude Fernandes to make it 2-2.

The match became frantic in the final stages but it was Benny XI who ultimately carried forward their momentum and scored the match-winner as Jesroy netted his brace for a well-deserved three points.

In another match at the Anjuna Gymkhana grounds, St Savio, Calangute beat Adarsh Yuvak Sangh 4-0. St Savio, Calangute were leading 2-0 at half time.

Alison Fernandes scored the opener for his side in the 36th minute. St. Savio's Deepak Gop was shown the yellow card for a reckless tackle on the rival custodian in the 37th minute.

Alison netted in his second goal in the 40th minute. Post resumption Namresh Kundaiker braced in a goal in the 52nd and then another one simultaneously in the 71st Minute.

Sirsaim Sports and Welfare Centre beat Bicholim Association of Football Fans (BAFF) 2-1 at Bom Jesus ground, Nachinola. At half time Sirsaim Sports and Welfare Centre were leading 1-0.

In the 25th minute Junior Rodrigues braced in the first goal for his side and helped them to take the lead. Post resumption David Nunes increased the lead to 2-1 in the 54th minute. BAFF were successful to pull back just one goal in the 86 minute.

Two red cards were shared between players from both the teams. Whereas Sirsaim Sports and Welfare Centre achieved a tally of four yellow cards in todays match.
