In a closely fought match Benny XI Sports Club beat Guirim Youth and Cultural Sports Club 3-2 in the Goa Football Association's Third Division League match (Bardez Zone), played at Duler Stadium, here, on Thursday. At half time the score was 1-0 in favour of Benny XI SC.
In the 10th minute, Benny XI SC went in the lead through Jesroy Fernandes who opened the score for his side. The next thirty minutes saw both the teams trying to create scoring opportunities.
The second half began with equal intensity as both teams attacked in numbers. In the 50th minute Benny XI SC increased the tally to 2-0 through a Jesroy Fernandes finish off a superb through ball by Micheal Dias.
In the 60th minute Noel Viegas reduced the margin to 2-1 for Guirim YCSC off a penalty. In the 73rd minute Guirim YCSC equalised through a stinging shot by Chandan Govenkar 2-2. In the 90th minute Chandan Gawas scored for Benny XI SC to make the score tally 3-2.
Benny XI SC qualify for the play-offs as the second team from Group B.
