MARGAO: Betalbatim SC edged past Guardian Angels SC 10-9 via the tiebreaker after a thrilling 3-3 draw in regulation time to book their place in the semifinals of the UCV Cup 2026 at the Church Ground, Chinchinim, on Friday.
Dickson Rogtao struck in the opening minute for Betalbatim before Milroy Clement restored parity for Guardian Angels in the seventh minute.
Betalbatim regained control through a second goal from Dickson Rogtao in the 14th minute, and Raj Kerkar extended the advantage five minutes later to hand his side a comfortable 3-1 lead at halftime.
Guardian Angels returned strongly after the break and mounted an impressive comeback. Salgeo Dias pulled one back in the 57th minute before Granville Fernandes scored a dramatic late equaliser to make it 3-3 and force the match into a penalty shootout.
The shootout proved just as tense, with Betalbatim eventually prevailing 10-9 to seal a hard-fought semifinal berth.
Raj Kerkar of Betalbatim SC was named Player of the Match and received the award from Joyce Rebello, Panch member of the Village Panchayat of Chinchinim-Deussua.
