MARGAO: Hosts St Anthony FC Assolda stormed into the semifinals of the 18th St Anthony Festival Cup 2026 with a commanding 5-1 victory over Sarzora Sports Club at the Moll Ground, Kumsai, Assolda, on Friday.
Assolda made a dream start as Fhrezer Gomes found the net in the opening minute to hand the hosts an early lead. Richard Fernandes then struck twice, scoring in the 17th and 70th minutes, while Victorino Fernandes and Kenneth Pereira added a goal each in the 26th and 50th minutes respectively to complete a dominant display.
Sarzora Sports Club managed to reduce the deficit through Om Raikar, who scored in the 42nd minute, but it proved to be little more than a consolation as Assolda remained firmly in control throughout the contest.
Shaullan Pires of St Anthony FC Assolda was named Man of the Match.
