MARGAO: CAC Sports and Social Club Cansaulim advanced to the semifinals of the St Sebastian Union football tournament after defeating hosts St Sebastian Union Club 5-4 via a penalty shootout in the quarterfinals at St John the Baptist Football Ground, Dando, Benaulim, on Wednesday.
The match remained goalless after regulation time, forcing the teams into a penalty shootout to determine the winner.
In the resultant tiebreaker, Cansaulim converted through Dester Fernandes, Melwyn Gama, Aloysius Mesquita and Rishley Soares. For St Sebastian, Vishal Fernandes, Faizel Bepari and Luis Fernandes found the net.
